ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to award Pakistan Honorary Cards to the top taxpayers.

Following the prime minister’s approval, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued the necessary Statutory Regulatory Orders (SROs).

The Pakistan Honorary Card will be granted to 65 top exporters and taxpayers.

Cardholders will receive VIP privileges at immigration counters and airports.

Additionally, those who receive the card will be invited to the prime minister’s annual dinner. All relevant institutions will be obligated to provide privileges to the top taxpayers.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed on Thursday that the government will increase Pakistan’s tax-to-GDP ratio to 15 per cent.

He made these remarks while chairing a sectoral meeting regarding the Ministry of Finance in Islamabad. The Prime Minister directed to reduce expenditures to alleviate the burden on the common man without resorting to tax hikes.

He further stated that public-private partnerships would be encouraged for airport services, involving private operators.
