HBO has unveiled the first official glimpse of its upcoming Harry Potter series, offering a fresh look at Hogwarts and instantly sparking strong reactions from fans.
The newly released image shows a young Harry Potter, played by Dominic McLaughlin, walking towards the Quidditch pitch in full Gryffindor colours, with his name and player number stitched across the back of his cloak.

Ahead of him, a crowd of students fills the pitch as house flags for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff fly overhead, teasing the scale and visual style of the rebooted Wizarding World.
The image marks the first major reveal from the highly anticipated HBO adaptation, which is currently in production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK.
The series is set to retell J.K. Rowling’s original story in a long-form format, with a new cast stepping into some of the most recognisable roles in modern pop culture.
Alongside McLaughlin, Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton will take on Hermione Granger.
The supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Hagrid, signalling a major reset for the franchise.
Behind the scenes, the project is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, with original author Rowling attached as an executive producer.
The visual direction of Hogwarts is being shaped by production designer Mara LePere-Schloop, known for her work on Interview With the Vampire and Pachinko, suggesting a darker, more detailed take on the iconic setting.
The reboot will follow Harry’s journey from discovering he is a wizard to navigating life at Hogwarts, where he forms key friendships and faces the looming threat of Lord Voldemort.
While the image offers only a brief look, it has already ignited debate online, with fans analysing everything from costume design to how closely the series will stick to the original films and books.
With production underway and expectations high, the HBO series is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched reboots in recent years.
