WEB DESK: England’s legendary fast bowler James Anderson was formally knighted by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on Monday, honouring a remarkable two-decade career that redefined fast bowling in Test cricket.
The 43-year-old was included in former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours list earlier this year, following his retirement from international cricket in July 2024. Anderson ended his illustrious Test career with 704 wickets, the most by any pace bowler and third overall in cricket history, behind spin greats Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne.
In addition to his Test feats, he remains England’s top wicket-taker in One-Day Internationals with 269 scalps, despite having last played the format in 2015.
Since retiring from international cricket, Anderson has continued playing for Lancashire, impressing in T20s after a decade-long hiatus and helping the side reach Finals Day at Edgbaston. He also represented the Manchester Originals in The Hundred and is reportedly considering extending his county career into 2026.
