WEB DESK: Lahore Traffic Police has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Pakistan–South Africa match taking place at Gaddafi Stadium today.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, more than 1,000 traffic wardens will be on duty during the match to ensure smooth traffic flow. Twenty forklifts and four breakdown vehicles will be deployed to deal with illegal parking and vehicle issues.
A spokesperson said that spectators arriving via Ferozepur Road will take a turn from Kalma Chowk and park their vehicles at Government College Gulberg through National Park. Those coming from Defence and Cantonment areas can use Hussain Chowk or Sherpao Bridge to reach Liberty Parking via Main Boulevard Gulberg. Citizens arriving from Mughalpura and Garhi Shahu will also park at Liberty Parking near Sunfort Hotel via Main Boulevard Gulberg.
Dr Athar Waheed assured that no roads will be permanently closed during the event. All major routes, including Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road, will remain open for traffic. The CTO added that vehicular movement on Ferozepur Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg will also continue as usual.
Special police contingents, including Dolphin Force, Elite Force, and the Special Protection Unit, have been deployed, with strict checks at all entry and exit points. Lahore’s police chief Bilal Siddique Kamyana said authorities aim to ensure a safe environment for sports. Pakistan trails 0–1 in the series after a 55-run loss in Rawalpindi, where Babar Azam fell for a duck, equalling Shahid Afridi’s record of eight T20I ducks.
