KARACHI: Fast bowler Hasan Ali has etched his name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), surpassing veteran pacer Wahab Riaz.

The Karachi Kings pacer achieved the milestone during the eighth match of PSL 10, where his team defeated Quetta Gladiators by 56 runs. Hasan Ali played a pivotal role in the victory, claiming three wickets in the match.

He broke the record after dismissing Quetta’s batter Hassan Nawaz, taking his tally to 116 wickets in 84 innings. Wahab Riaz had previously held the record with 113 wickets in 87 innings.

Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi is currently third on the all-time list with 108 wickets in 74 matches, followed by Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan with 97 wickets in 86 matches, and Faheem Ashraf with 79 wickets in 73 games.

Speaking after the match, Hasan Ali said he is working hard to make a comeback to the national side, but acknowledged that the final decision rests with the selection committee.

The pacer added that he had been the best bowler in the National T20 Cup and is now delivering strong performances in PSL 10 as part of his efforts to return to international cricket.
