Health Minister launches app for drugs registration

ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, Dr Nadeem Jan, introduced a new app for the online registration and licensing of drugs, marking a significant leap forward in the country’s drug registration and licensing system.

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Health, pharmaceutical companies can now submit applications for registration and licenses online, eliminating the need for in-person visits to DRAP for the same purpose.

The spokesperson highlighted that the new system also includes the digital registration and licensing of new multinational companies. The automation of these processes is expected to boost exports and enhance the confidence of international organizations in Pakistan’s pharmaceuticals.

The health minister emphasized that the foundation of merit and transparency has been established in DRAP, leading to a substantial increase in institutional efficiency. This, in turn, is anticipated to instil public confidence in the regulatory body.

Dr Nadeem Jan expressed, “We are actively working to implement a reform agenda in the Ministry of Health, promoting transparency through this initiative.”

To facilitate direct communication with the regulator, Dr Nadeem Jan also launched a complaint app. He stated, “We are taking practical steps to modernize DRAP, ensuring it aligns with international standards.”

Coordinated efforts are underway to bring DRAP in line with global benchmarks, reflecting the commitment to continuous improvement and advancement in the health sector.
