ISLAMABAD: Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said on Wednesday that those responsible for a fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) that killed 14 newborn babies would be held accountable and punished.
Speaking to reporters at PIMS, Kamal described the incident as a major tragedy and said no compensation could make up for the loss of life.
An investigation had been launched to determine responsibility, he said, adding that no one would be spared, from senior officials to staff at the hospital.
“I present myself for accountability,” Kamal said, adding that anyone found responsible for the deaths would face punishment.
