Met Office issues rain, snow warning across Pakistan

Heavy rainfall has begun affecting various parts of Pakistan, with continuous downpours reported across cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert, forecasting more rains and snowfall throughout the country in the coming days.

Late-night rainfall caused a tragic incident in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the roof of a house collapsed due to the weight of the rainwater, resulting in the death of three children and injuring two others. Local authorities are working to assist the affected families and provide relief.

In addition to the rainfall, the NDMA has predicted thunderstorms and showers in various regions, including Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Snowfall is expected to blanket the higher and mountainous areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding to the severity of the weather conditions.

The NDMA also forecasts cloudy weather for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Chaman, urging residents to remain cautious and prepared for the unpredictable weather.

Citizens are advised to stay updated on weather warnings, take necessary precautions, and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides due to the heavy rains and potential snowfall. Emergency services are on standby to assist those affected by the ongoing weather disturbances.
