The Higher Education Commission has directed all universities and degree awarding institutions (DAIs) across Pakistan to resume in-person classes from April 1, 2026.
In an official communication, the HEC stated that the decision comes as a continuation of its earlier directives issued on March 10 regarding austerity and fuel conservation measures. The previous instructions had led many institutions to limit on-campus activities as part of efforts to reduce energy consumption.
With the revised directive, universities and DAIs are now permitted to fully restart physical academic operations, marking a return to regular classroom-based learning after the temporary measures.
Authorities have advised institutions to ensure a smooth transition back to on-campus education while continuing to follow any relevant administrative guidelines.
The move is expected to impact thousands of students and faculty members nationwide, restoring routine academic schedules after weeks of adjustments under conservation policies.
