Karachi University teachers call off boycott of classes
Following the disbursement of funds by the HEC, the University of Karachi (UoK) has reopened its doors to students. The University of Karachi Professors’ Association has confirmed that the teaching process will resume today, as their demands have been met following the intervention of the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh.
The allocation of a substantial amount of Rs 430 million to the University of Karachi by the Higher Education Commission Sindh has led to the decision by the Professors’ Association to resume teaching activities.
Karachi University teachers had been engaged in protests since September 22 due to issues related to non-payment of arrears and increments.
The association had called upon the Sindh chief minister to promptly address the administrative crisis at the University and initiate an investigation through a commission to resolve the longstanding issue of the university budget, which had remained unresolved for six years.
