LONDON: Helena Bonham Carter has exited The White Lotus Season 4 after a creative shift led to her role being rewritten and recast.
Filming for the highly anticipated fourth season of the hit series began in the South of France in April, but Helena Bonham Carter left the production just a week into shooting.

A spokesperson later confirmed that the character created for her by showrunner Mike White “did not align once on set,” prompting a rethink of the role.
“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks,” the statement added.

Steve Coogan, who is also part of the new season and recently took a break from filming to attend the TV Baftas, addressed the situation on the red carpet.
He described the change as a “mutual decision,” explaining that sometimes a character “doesn’t work the way you want in terms of the dynamic of the whole story.”
