KARACHI: The price of gold in Pakistan decreased today (October 30), tracking fluctuations in the international market despite a rise in global spot rates.
According to the data released by All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs1,000, bringing the new rate to Rs418,862 per tola. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs857 to Rs359,106.
Meanwhile, 22-karat gold was being traded at Rs329,300 per 10 grams in the local market on Thursday.
In contrast, silver prices remained stable. The rate of 24-karat silver stood unchanged at Rs5,034 per tola and Rs4,315 per 10 grams.
Global market movement
In the international market, spot gold was seen trading around $3,976 an ounce, gaining $23.6 or 0.60 percent compared to the previous session. The precious metal was supported by a weaker US dollar and the Federal Reserve’s recent interest rate cut.
However, hopes of improved trade relations between the United States and China limited gold’s upward movement as investors shifted some focus towards riskier assets.
Despite the global uptick, local gold prices in Pakistan moved in the opposite direction, reflecting the impact of currency stability and slower domestic demand.
According to APGJSA data, gold prices have surged by Rs146,262 per tola since the start of the calendar year, even after Thursday’s decline, highlighting continued volatility in both local and international bullion markets.
