Hinds Hall: Macklemore releases song in solidarity with Palestinian cause


Rapper Macklemore released a new song titled

WEB DESK: Rapper Macklemore on Tuesday released a new song titled “Hind’s Hall” expressing solidarity with Gaza and inspired by pro-Palestinian protests across the United States (US) universities.

Hind’s Hall debuted on Macklemore’s official YouTube channel that boasts nearly 10 million subscribers. Within the initial four hours of its release, the song amassed over 60,000 views.

The song commemorates Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl tragically killed by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.

Macklemore has committed to donating all proceeds generated from the song’s sales to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The song delves into several pertinent issues, encompassing the US’ involvement in Israel’s atrocities in Gaza, the law enforcement’s handling of pro-Palestinian demonstrations on university grounds, and the suppression of pro-Palestinian material on social media platforms.

In the composition, the rapper offered critcised the US government while repeatedly expressing solidarity with the pursuit of Palestinian freedom.

The rapper also called for the need to distinguish between criticism of Israel’s policies and anti-Semitism. Macklemore advocated for a nuanced comprehension of the conflict. He condemned Israel’s actions as genocidal and called for attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

Macklemore also questions the priorities of the music industry, rebuking its silence concerning the Gaza conflict and its preoccupation with trivial matters. He implored fellow artists to leverage their platforms to address injustices unfolding in Palestine.

Hind’s Hall is not the first instance of Macklemore’s involvement in activism concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict. He has previously spoken at pro-Palestine rallies and advocated for a ceasefire.

The song’s debuted amidst Israel’s ongoing military assault in Gaza that has led to the deaths of over 14,500 Palestinian children alone. According to reports from the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 34,000 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli atrocities.

The track has received favourable responses from pro-Palestinian activists who commended Macklemore for his endeavours to amplify their voices. However, it has also encountered criticism from supporters of Israel who disagree with its portrayal of the conflict.
