Against this backdrop, Hum Investigation Team delved into the process that led to the 52-year old senator from Balochistan, landing up with an all-important task of steering the country to next general elections.
According to the sources, the role of opposition leader Raja Riaz was instrumental in proposing Kakar’s name as he huddled over the last few days with PM Shehbaz Sharif to deliberate over the crucial appointment.
Reportedly, Riaz met Kakar twice this week, but what actually transpired during those meetings is shrouded in mystery.
Kakar, however, would not have seen this day without positive responses from Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari.
What clinched the deal for ‘underdog’ Kakar?
A source privy to the development confided to HIT, on condition of anonymity, that the ‘out-of-the-box’ appointment also has the blessings of the all-powerful establishment.
After the name was thrown into the discussions on Friday, Kakar was finalized as the eight caretaker prime minister of Pakistan at 2am on Saturday morning.
Twelve hours later, he was informed of the decision.
