Maryam Nawaz’s multi million-rupee portfolio

ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, the Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), boasts assets valued at over Rs842.58 million, according to details submitted with her nomination papers for the NA-119 constituency.
The documents reveal Maryam’s ownership of more than 1500 kanal land in Lahore, with no reported foreign properties. Over the span of a year, her assets witnessed a modest increase of just over Rs4 million.
She holds a master degree in English Literature. Interestingly, she owes her brother Hassan Nawaz more than Rs28.9 million. Additionally, Maryam Nawaz assets disclosed gold worth Rs1.75 million and over Rs10 million in various bank accounts.
She also holds shares worth Rs12.2 million in different companies.
Her husband, Captain Safdar, is reported to owe Rs60 million to friends. Maryam declared an agricultural income exceeding Rs10.90 million in three years, with over Rs1.2 million paid in income tax for agricultural land.

Furthermore, Maryam invested in shares, including those worth more than Rs5.469 million in Hudabiya Paper Mills and Rs4.821 million in Muhammad Bakhsh Textile Mills.
She also owns shares worth Rs1.6 million in Hamza Spinning Mills and Rs90,000 worth of shares in Junaid Poultry Farms.
Surprisingly, Maryam does not own a personal vehicle. The documents highlight a balance of more than Rs7.8 million in her bank accounts.
It’s worth noting that a plea has been submitted in the Lahore High Court against the approval of Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers.
Nadeem Sherwani, a PTI candidate from NA-119, filed the petition, claiming that Maryam possesses more assets than her reported income.
