How to get petrol subsidy in Pakistan: new app to help low-income vehicle owners

The federal government has announced a new initiative to provide a petrol subsidy to low-income vehicle owners amid the ongoing energy crisis. This subsidy aims to support individuals using two- and three-wheeler vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws, while shielding them from rising global fuel prices.

The Ministry of Information Technology (IT) has developed a dedicated mobile application to manage the petrol subsidy program. Currently in its testing phase, the app will allow eligible users to receive subsidized fuel efficiently and transparently.

According to official sources, vehicles up to 800cc have not yet been included in the program, but two- and three-wheelers will be prioritized. For motorcycles, a monthly quota of up to 20 liters of subsidized petrol is being proposed.

To implement the subsidy, around 12,000 petrol pumps across Pakistan will be equipped with dedicated nozzles specifically for subsidized fuel. Each petrol pump will also receive two mobile devices to process fuel transactions through the app, ensuring smooth and accountable delivery.

Officials say the initiative is designed to reduce the financial burden on vulnerable segments of society while ensuring that the effects of international fuel price increases are minimized for eligible vehicle owners.

The petrol subsidy app is expected to roll out soon, and citizens are advised to stay updated through official government announcements for eligibility criteria and application instructions.
