Hum Awam Party: who will join Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s ranks?

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi'

ISLAMABAD: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the head of the newly formed Hum Awam Party, has asserted that Pakistan needs a fresh political force as existing parties have failed to deliver. In an exclusive discussion with Hum TV’s Investigation team head, Zahid Gishkori, the former prime minister unveiled the party’s manifesto.

Abbasi emphasized that the core of their manifesto is the people of Pakistan, encapsulated in their slogan, “The people are Pakistan.” He stressed that only clean, talented, and reputable politicians would be welcomed into the party.

Abbasi pointed out that recent elections have redirected the country’s political landscape, highlighting that no single party or individual can address all the issues. When asked about prominent politicians interested in joining, he hinted at a substantial list of potential members. Talks are ongoing with many reputable politicians, including names like Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Mehtab Abbasi.

He criticized the performance of the country’s 177 political parties over the past 76 years, noting that they have failed to deliver meaningful progress. Abbasi declared that the Hum Awam Party will focus on challenging major political entities such as the Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan People’s Party, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which he claims have been ineffective in serving the people of Pakistan.

“We, Hum Awam, are not power-hungry for official positions,” Abbasi stated, emphasizing the party’s commitment to genuine public service.
