HUM Network, Punjab police join hands for road safety awareness drive


LAHORE: In a landmark initiative, HUM Network Limited has entered into an agreement with Punjab Police and Shell Pakistan to raise awareness on road safety, reduce traffic accidents and promote adherence to traffic laws. 

Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have jointly launched a nationwide traffic safety campaign with HUM Network leading the creation of engaging media content and strategic messages aligned with critical road safety objectives. 

Speaking at the road safety awareness event in Lahore, HUM Network CEO Duraid Qureshi emphasised the importance of citizen cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

“It is our duty as citizens to support the police. Some mistakes cost lives, and we aim to foster respect for law enforcement agencies,” he said.

He said that road safety is essential for everyone, and this campaign is for the entire country.” 

HUM Network President Sultana Siddiqui highlighted the network’s contribution to the campaign saying: “We have produced documentaries to spread awareness. Our role is to inform; it’s the police’s job to enforce. Together, we can move Pakistan forward,” she said. 

Punjab Police Inspector General Usman Anwar shared updates on digital innovations within the police system, including online license issuance and home delivery of traffic violation challans.

Additional IG Traffic Faran Baig noted that online services have eliminated the need for citizens to visit offices, simplifying compliance with traffic regulations. 

A significant focus of the campaign also aims to curb underage driving and promote helmet usage among motorcyclists. These measures aim to foster a culture of safety on the roads for all. 

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Amara Athar shared insights into operational efforts, stating that their centers operate in three shifts and mobile vans will soon be deployed in various city areas.

She appreciated the partnership with HUM Network, saying, “This collaboration has been beneficial. Civil society has extended immense support, and HUM News has raised awareness on road safety through reports and coverage.” 

The partnership between HUM Network, Shell Pakistan, police underscores a shared commitment to fostering a culture of traffic law compliance and road safety. 

As part of this initiative, HUM Network will not only create engaging media content but will also analyze public feedback and data to monitor and evaluate the campaign’s impact. 

Provincial traffic police departments will implement the campaign through a structured planning and assessment process. They will play a crucial role in enforcing traffic laws, engaging communities, and raising awareness about road safety. 

This nationwide campaign will also address critical issues such as underage driving and the importance of wearing helmets. By fostering a safer driving environment, the initiative seeks to protect lives and promote responsible road behavior across Pakistan.
