Humayun Dilawar appointed special court judge

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Additional District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, known for his pivotal role in sentencing PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference, has assumed the esteemed position of Special Court (Central II) Judge in Islamabad.

The Ministry of Law and Justice formally announced this appointment through an official notification, outlining Judge Humayun’s Dilawar’s tenure as a deputation-based assignment for the next three years. Effective immediately, he takes charge of his responsibilities starting today, stationed at the heart of legal proceedings, the Islamabad Judicial Complex.

Four judges appointed in special courts of Pakistan

Highlighting the unique preparations for his role, sources reveal the establishment of a dedicated courtroom specifically for Dilawar at the Judicial Complex. This move comes as a notable expansion, considering the previous singular court for the special judge central.

Adding to the significance, the notification underscores Dilawar’s jurisdiction, which will predominantly cover cases related to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and cybercrime. This strategic placement reinforces his role as a key figure in adjudicating high-profile and intricate legal matters.

Judge Humayun Dilawar – a Grade 20 officer, serving as the ADSJ (West), Islamabad – was made an officer on special duty (OSD), on the instruction of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in August.

The judicial officer was made OSD on a on a newly created post in the IHC, the notification said. It added that the IHC chief justice had transferred the judge to the new post in public interest.
