ISLAMABAD: An inquiry report has revealed that hundreds of Irani nationals and other foreigners obtained fake Pakistani identity cards and passports from various NADRA centres in Balochistan.
The NADRA report, which was obtained by HUM English, stated that 223 Iranians were issued bogus identity cards from the NADRA Panjgur centre alone.
These Iranians then acquired Pakistani passports and travelled to different countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and various European countries.
The report unveiled that several NADRA employees faced accusations of providing counterfeit identity cards to Iranian citizens. These fraudulent passports were processed in exchange for bribes. Moreover, the issuance of these forged cards by a clandestine group was brought to the attention of NADRA’s senior management.
The issue of fake ID cards issued by NADRA has been a longstanding problem in Pakistan, compromising the security of the country.
Earlier, NADRA issued declared 155,000 ID cards as fake.

The FIA had also been investigating the issue of fake ID cards and has arrested several NADRA officials and agents involved in the scam.
The FIA has also revealed that some NADRA employees helped militants linked with the banned TTP, AQIS and Baloch seperatist groups to get CNICs in return for monetary and other gains.
The FIA has also introduced a new system to verify the family tree of citizens through SMS to prevent the inclusion of strangers or unrelated persons in the family number of citizens for fake identity cards.
The issue of fake ID cards issued by NADRA has raised serious concerns among the public about the reliability and trustworthiness of NADRA as an institution. It has also exposed the loopholes and weaknesses in NADRA’s system and procedures that need to be addressed urgently.
