GILGIT: Hunza police on Sunday thwarted an attempted kidnapping of three teenagers allegedly linked to a monetary dispute.
The police successfully recovered the three individuals — identified as Izlan Abbas, Ehsan Abbas and Rehman Ali, all residents of Nasirabad, Hunza.
According to police sources, two vehicles coming from Hunza were stopped for a routine check at around 3:30 am at the Nasirabad checkpoint when the three teenagers alerted the police that they were being kidnapped.
Upon questioning, one of the suspects, Syed Burhanuddin, a resident of Jutiyal, falsely claimed to be associated with the ISI headquarters and threatened the police with consequences.

The checkpoint in-charge, Naeem, along with constables Nooruddin, Sartaj, and Mubarak Ali, promptly informed the Aliabad Police Station, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The other accused have been identified as Tauseef Nasir, a resident of Nasirabad Hunza, and Aqib Hussain, from Danyore, Gilgit.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Aliabad Police Station told HUM News English that Tauseef Nasir had a pending loan of Rs145,000 from Izlan Abbas, who had reportedly taken away Tauseef’s notepad and refused to return it.
In retaliation, Tauseef allegedly enlisted the help of the other suspects to kidnap the teenagers.
The SHO revealed that Tauseef has an alleged track record of similar fraudulent activities, though previous cases were settled through mediation.
Police recovered three walkie-talkies and a drone camera from the suspects’ possession. One of the accused is said to be a relative of a high-ranking officer in the Gilgit-Baltistan police.
