DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the qualification structure for cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

A total of six teams will compete in both the men’s and women’s cricket events, the international cricket body said while sharing the pathway.

Five teams in each category will secure direct entry based on ICC rankings.

The sixth and final spot in both competitions will be decided through an Olympic qualifying tournament.

The ICC confirmed that the qualifying event will be staged in 2027, with dates and venue to be announced later.

In the women’s category, Australia, England, India, and South Africa have already secured direct qualification due to their top positions in the ICC rankings.
