ISLAMABAD: The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 standings have confirmed a dramatic end to Group B, with Sri Lanka (6 points) and Zimbabwe (5 points) advancing to the Super Eight stage, while Australia (2 points) and Ireland (3 points) have been eliminated from the tournament.
Rain had the final say in the group’s decisive fixture, as the scheduled match between Zimbabwe and Ireland in Pallekele was abandoned without a toss due to persistent showers. The washout saw both teams share a point, a result that ultimately sealed Zimbabwe’s progression.
According to the updated ICC standings, Zimbabwe finished second in Group B with five points from three matches, enough to book their place in the next round. Sri Lanka topped the group with six points after winning all three of their games.
Ireland concluded their campaign with three points from four matches, falling short of qualification. Meanwhile, Australia’s disappointing run leaves them with just two points from three games. Although the former champions still have a match remaining against Oman, the standings make it clear that even a victory will not be enough to push them into the top two.
Group B Final ICC Standings
Sri Lanka – 6 points (Qualified)
Zimbabwe – 5 points (Qualified)
Ireland – 3 points (Eliminated)
Australia – 2 points (Eliminated)
Oman – 0 points
Elsewhere in the ICC T20 World Cup standings, India and the USA progressed from Group A, the West Indies and England advanced from Group C, while South Africa and New Zealand secured qualification from Group D.
Zimbabwe’s qualification emerges as one of the standout moments of the group stage, as they edge out Australia to claim a coveted spot in the Super Eight lineup.
