ICC T20I rankings: where do Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi stand?

Babar Azam has enjoyed a strong return to T20I after coming back in 2024, climbing the latest ICC T20I rankings. Salman Mirza and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf have also risen, reflecting their standout performances in the series against South Africa.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan held onto his 11th position in the T20I batting rankings, while Babar Azam made a strong comeback by climbing nine places to 30th with 563 points. Saim Ayub also made significant progress, jumping 10 spots to 39th, whereas wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan experienced a slight dip, moving down two places to 42nd.
Other notable movements include T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, who jumped 10 places to 54th, while Fakhar Zaman dropped four spots to 63rd. Hasan Nawaz fell to 69th and Mohammad Haris slipped four places to 82nd. India’s Abhishek Sharma continues to lead the batting rankings, followed by England’s Phil Salt in second and India’s Tilak Varma in third.
In the bowlers’ rankings, Abrar Ahmed maintained his eighth position, and Shaheen Afridi climbed three places to 13th with 630 points. Spinner Sufiyan Muqeem dropped to 23rd, while Mohammad Nawaz moved up one spot to 32nd. Haris Rauf slipped three places to 37th.
Young pacer Salman Mirza made a remarkable leap of 98 places to 45th with 513 points, following a standout spell in the second T20I against South Africa. Faheem Ashraf also surged 50 places to 51st with 502 points. On the other hand, Saim Ayub and Abbas Afridi dropped 12 and seven places to 53rd and 55th, respectively. India’s Varun Chakaravarthy remains the top-ranked T20I bowler, followed by West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.
