ICC Test rankings: Pakistan slips to eighth as Starc takes top bowling spot

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its latest Test rankings, with Australian pacer Mitchell Starc taking the top spot among bowlers and Pakistan slipping to eighth in the team standings.

Starc dethrones Bumrah as No. 1 Test bowler

Starc climbed two places to become the No. 1 Test bowler, moving ahead of India’s Jasprit Bumrah in the latest rankings.

Australia captain Pat Cummins also improved his position, moving up one place to fourth among the bowlers.

Big jump for Abdullah Shafique

Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique made the biggest move among the country’s batters, climbing seven places to 28th in the rankings.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam remains the only Pakistani batter in the top 10. England’s Harry Brook continues to occupy the No. 1 position among Test batters.

Team rankings: Bangladesh rise, Pakistan fall

Bangladesh made a three-place jump in the Test team rankings to sixth, while Pakistan dropped one place to eighth following the latest update.

The changes come in the ICC’s latest rankings across Test teams, batters and bowlers.

Demerit point for Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya

Separately, the ICC warned Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya during the second Test against India and added a demerit point to his disciplinary record.

Jayasuriya struck the boundary boards after being dismissed at the end of the second day’s play, resulting in the disciplinary sanction.

Three players have now been sanctioned during the second Test. India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando were also fined earlier in the match.
