WEB DESK: Inspector General of Punjab Police Abdul Karim has directed an enhanced security plan across Lahore and the rest of the province, instructing law enforcement to strengthen vigilance at sensitive locations, commercial hubs and public gathering points, according to an official statement.
He emphasised that maintaining law and order and ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives, property and assets remains the foremost priority of the police force.
The IG also stressed improved coordination between police units and rapid response mechanisms to deal with any emerging security threats. He said supervisory officers must ensure visible policing, while all available resources should be utilised to maintain peace and public confidence across Punjab.
Senior officers have been asked to remain actively present in the field to supervise security arrangements and assess ground realities.
Security of shrines, markets and highways tightened
The IG directed that security at shrines, busy markets and other sensitive installations must be ensured without compromise.
He further ordered an increase in patrolling around commercial centres and major highways to deter any untoward incidents and improve public confidence.
Officers told to remain in field and engage citizens
DPOs and other police officers have been instructed to stay in the field rather than confining themselves to offices, and to regularly review security arrangements on the ground.
Senior officers were also directed to engage with citizens at their doorsteps, listen to their grievances and ensure timely resolution of public complaints.
