IHC inquires about cases against Imaan Mazari

Imaan Mazari

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has formally requested information concerning the legal cases filed against human rights attorney Imaan Mazari.

During a hearing held at the IHC’s Islamabad premises on Wednesday, responding to Mazari’s appeal for the disclosure of case particulars against her, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb of the IHC presided over the session with a focus on revealing the specific details of the charges brought against Imaan Mazari.

In the course of the proceedings, a decree was issued, mandating the Interior Secretary, who represents the government, to compile comprehensive case reports from various jurisdictions across the country that involve Imaan Mazari. The assembled reports are to be presented before the court by tomorrow.

PTI chief’s judicial remand extended until September 13

The presiding judge has given explicit instructions to the Interior Secretary to take all necessary measures to ensure Imaan’s immunity from arrest and to prevent any attempts to relocate her outside of Islamabad.

Furthermore, the court has outlined that any cases or reports against Imaan Mazari that come to the forefront subsequent to August 20 should not result in her immediate arrest.

The court has adjourned the proceedings until Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted a three-day physical remand of human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari in a case related to “solicitation of funds for anti-state activities.”
