IHC issues contempt notices to FIA, PTA and IB heads in audio leak case

IHC high court notice

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued preliminary notices on Tuesday in contempt of court cases to the Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). These notices were issued in response to petitions filed seeking the recusal of Justice Babar Sattar from the audio leaks case.

Each institution has been fined Rs0.5 million for filing ‘malicious’ petitions.

Judge Babar Sattar, dismissed petitions brought by the IB, FIA, and Pemra, declaring them malicious. In his ruling, he asserted that these petitions were coordinated by the three agencies to apply undue pressure on the judiciary.

The Islamabad High Court is currently hearing a case originating from petitions filed last year by Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, and Najam Saqib, son of former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, concerning alleged audio leaks.
