IHC reshuffles courtrooms to make space for Federal Constitutional Court

FCC winter recess

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has begun a significant internal reshuffling of courtrooms following the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) at the IHC building, resulting in multiple changes to judges’ chambers as well as today’s hearing schedules.

According to court officials, IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar will continue to preside in Courtroom No. 1, which remains unchanged amid the ongoing adjustments.

However, as part of the restructuring, FCC Justice Aminuddin Khan has been allocated the courtroom previously used by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani. Meanwhile, Justice Kayani’s court has been shifted to the courtroom of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.

Two additional judges of the Constitutional Court, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Aamer Farooq, have been assigned chambers on the third floor of the IHC building. On the second floor, the courts of Justice Muhammad Asif and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro have also been set up as part of the new layout.

Due to the ongoing transfer and reorganisation of courtrooms, the cause lists for hearings scheduled today for Justice Muhammad Asif and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro have been cancelled, court authorities confirmed on Monday.

The reshuffling process is expected to continue as the Federal Constitutional Court integrates into its new working space within the Islamabad High Court premises.
