Crackdown intensified against illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi

WEB DESK: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is intensifying its crackdown on non approved and illegal housing schemes following directives from Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar.

The Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate of RDA has issued notices to individuals and owners involved in 11 illegal subdivisions and non-approved housing societies in Rawalpindi.

The targeted areas include Ittehad Town at Mouza Harnal on Mandra Chakwal Road in Gujar Khan, Aziz Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd. at Mouza Jarary on Jorian to Gahi Syedan Road in Rawalpindi, and various land subdivisions in different locations.

A RDA spokesman emphasised that the Director General has instructed the MP&TE Directorate to take action against illegal advertisements and file First Information Reports (FIRs) against the owners of these illegal housing schemes.

Owners of such schemes are urged to cease marketing their unapproved projects immediately and contact RDA for the necessary approvals.

Failure to comply will result in strict legal action. The public is also advised against investing in unauthorised housing projects and encouraged to verify the status of housing projects on the RDA’s official website (www.rda.gop.pk).

According to The News, the Planning Wing of the RDA has sought the intervention of the Cyber Crime Wing, FIA, to take legal action against misleading advertisements related to illegal housing schemes.

Additionally, RDA has issued a notice to marketing company M/s Reliable Marketing for promoting nine illegal housing projects, including New Metro City, Al-Muqeet City, Mega City, Al-Imran Homes, Al-Imran Garden, Prism City, Sarwar Shaheed Garden, Khan Village Housing Society, and Faisal Town Phase II.

RDA remains committed to curbing the spread of illegal housing schemes and ensuring that citizens are not deceived by false advertising.
