Imad Wasim confirms divorce from Sania Ashfaq

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistani Cricketer Imad Wasim on Sunday confirmed his divorce from his wife, Sania Ashfaq, according to reports.

The news came after the former national cricket team player took to the social media site Instagram.

Breaking his silence over the long-rumoured separation with Sania Ashfaq, Imad said that divorce from Sania came after repeated conflicts that couldn’t be addressed over the past few years.

He said in the statement that he has filed for divorce, putting an end to months of speculation about their separation.

Regarding his children with Sania, the retired cricket player said he remained their father and would continue to care for them fully and responsibly, the official statement added.

He said Sania was no longer his life partner and therefore adding that any attempt to defame or involve others would be dealt with through legal channels, if not refrained.

“Thank you for your understanding and respect,” the statement added.

Calling for all the public in the same statement, the retired player demanded a complete privacy from fans and followers.

The now-formally-separated Imad and Sania tied the knot in August 2019 and they have with them three children of which the player already took the ‘responsibility’ to be looking after.

The all-rounder retired from international cricket in December 2024 is currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
