RAWALPINDI: Urging his party to finalize preparations, former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan said on Thursday that he will soon announce a countrywide street movement.
He emphasized that the nation must take to the streets, describing the PTI’s movement as a “jihad for democracy.”
Speaking to reporters at Adiala jail, the former premier stated, “PTI is fully prepared for a nationwide protest to restore democracy in the country.”
Imran Khan also claimed that both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are imprisoned due to the actions of Judge Humayun Dilawar, whom he alleged had been gifted land worth billions of rupees. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Establishment has records of this, but the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed a case against the Anti-Corruption Establishment instead.
He further accused Mohsin Naqvi of committing serious injustices against them, stating, “Zille Shah was killed by the police, who then dumped his body by the roadside. Yet, an FIR was lodged against me.” He also alleged that Naqvi was rewarded with the roles of Interior Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board for causing harm to them.

The former premier also criticized Chief Justice Faez Isa, accusing him of protecting those responsible for these injustices. He said, “The Chief Justice deprived PTI of its election symbol and ignored our fundamental human rights petitions.”
Imran Khan also claimed that the former commissioner of Rawalpindi had accused both the Chief Justice and the Chairman of the Election Commission of Pakistan of election rigging. “Today, the same strategy is being used to stay in power. Just as Yahya Khan deceived Awami League leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to remain in power, today all eyes are on the Supreme Court, which is also under attack.”
Regarding Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan said that if he hadn’t been barred from leaving the country, Sharif would have already gone abroad. He added that foreign investors would avoid investing in Pakistan until the rule of law is established.
He also condemned the authorities for “whisking away” the wife and daughter of Sadullah Baloch, calling it unprecedented. He added that barging into Parliament to arrest members of the assembly was shameful.
