ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that former prime minister Imran Khan believes that Fawad Chaudhry was complicit in the regime change plot as he had had meetings with former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
In a statement, Marwat said that cases were made against Chaudhry on his own demand, and he stayed in VIP jails where he had “arrangements.” “Fawad spoke against us like someone overly enthusiastic at another’s wedding. It seems that some journalists abroad have also been given the task of targeting PTI leaders,” he said.
Marwat mentioned that Chaudhry was in contact with Gen Bajwa and was allegedly working against the party’s interests. He stated that the party views Chaudhry’s actions with suspicion.

Marwat criticized Chaudhry, asserting that he lacks the moral authority to criticize others within PTI. He accused Chaudhry of abandoning the party when it needed him the most. “Everyone saw Fawad fleeing while I was arrested in front of the Lahore High Court, but I did not flee,” he said.
Marwat also highlighted that PTI’s Jhelum chapter has threatened to leave the party if Chaudhry is allowed to rejoin. He added that Imran Khan has summoned him for a meeting, which will take place by July 15 or July 16.
