ISLAMABAD: A comprehensive security plan is in the works for the transportation of PTI Chairman Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to the Judicial Complex on Tuesday (November 28).

Following the Islamabad High Court’s decision to nullify the jail trial in the cipher case, the special court hearings have been relocated to the Judicial Complex in Islamabad.

The court has ordered the personal appearance of Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi on November 28, marking Khan’s first court appearance since his arrest on August 5.

In preparation for the hearing, the Special Branch has submitted a report, emphasizing the need for special measures in crowd control.

The report, shared with police and district administration officials, underscores the call for ‘strict’ security arrangements during the hearing.

According to sources, the police and city administration are mulling the safest route to bring Imran Khan to court. The preferred route for transportation is Peshawar Road, and considerations include the partial sealing of the red zone on Tuesday. Special police and ranger contingents are set to be deployed at Faizabad, Zero Point, and Srinagar Highway.

Security measures will be heightened at the Judicial Complex, with all roads leading to it being completely sealed.

A special meeting of the police and district administration is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) to finalize the security plan.

The Special Branch has also alerted authorities to the potential influx of lawyers and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers at the hearing. The report advises the police to make special arrangements for crowd dispersal, emphasizing the importance of maintaining order during this critical event.
