RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said that “the lava has boiled over,” warning that people are now ready to go to jail and even die for their cause.
Speaking to journalists at Adiala jail, Imran Khan mentioned that the party had not previously called for street protests. However, he said if the Supreme Court’s decision on reserved seats is not implemented, and Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s tenure extended, they will initiate street movement.
He also criticised the government’s attempt to extend the tenure of the chief justice through a constitutional amendment, vowing to protest against it.
He emphasised, “The lava has boiled over, and people are ready. They are calling out, and I’m warning that people are now prepared to go to jail and die.”
Imran Khan also accused the current government of attempting to amend the constitution by securing a two-thirds majority, adding that the country’s situation is worse than that of Bangladesh.
He further claimed that they themselves ignited the events of May 9 and clarified that he has no contact with the establishment. “As soon as my opponents think I have contact with the establishment, they will start to tremble,” he said.
