In a fiery speech, Trump blames Biden, immigrants for “mess” he inherited

Trump plans long pause

WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump has said he was given a strong mandate to dismantle what he described as a “corrupt system,” vowing that policies from the Biden era would not be reinstated.

Addressing the nation, Trump said the achievements of the past year were unmatched, claiming his administration had helped halt eight wars within a 10-month period. He added that the United States did not need more lawmakers but required new leadership in the presidency.

The president said the country had moved “from the worst to the best,” asserting that prices of goods had fallen significantly during his tenure and that American wages had seen a notable increase. He also claimed that employment levels in the US were higher than ever before.

Trump said that a year earlier, the country had been “on the brink of failure,” but his administration had made trillions of dollars in investment possible. He added that the impact of tax cuts introduced by his government would become clearer in the coming year.

Highlighting economic measures, Trump said tariffs had been used to strengthen the economy and criticised green energy initiatives launched during the Biden administration.

On immigration, the president said illegal immigrants had taken jobs during the previous administration, while claiming that under his leadership, all new jobs had gone to US-born citizens. He said border security had been strengthened and reiterated his slogan of making America “great again.”

Trump also announced plans for reforms in the housing sector and said US soldiers would receive a Christmas bonus of $1,776 each.

The address focused heavily on economic recovery, national security and a sharp contrast between the current administration’s policies and those of its predecessor.
