Independence Day: PMD forecasts rain on August 14

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain on Independence Day, with further showers expected from August 14 to 18.

According to the Met Office, monsoon winds will enter the northern and central regions with intensity, while westerly winds are also expected to enter the northern regions of the country.

From August 14 to 18, rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other areas of Punjab, including Murree, Galliyat, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, and Gujranwala, with the possibility of strong winds.

There is also a likelihood of rain in Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, and Chiniot.

Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha.

From August 15 to 18, rain is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, and Rajanpur.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms is expected from August 14 to 18.

Rain is likely in other areas of the province, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Bajaur, Buner, Kohat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

In various parts of Balochistan, rain is expected from August 15 to 18, while in Sindh, there is a possibility of strong winds and rain during the same period.

Cloudy weather with light rain is expected in coastal areas of Sindh, while strong winds with rain are anticipated in Gilgit-Baltistan from August 15 to 18.
