Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto given guard of honour at PM House

ISLAMABAD: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was warmly received at the Prime Minister’s House by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday. Upon arrival, President Subianto was accorded a guard of honor by the troops of the Pakistan Armed Forces, marking the official start of his visit.

President Subianto arrived in Pakistan on Monday. President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Sharif extended a warm welcome while receiving him at the airport.

The ceremonial welcome highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Indonesia, as both leaders are expected to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, defense, and regional matters. The visit also underscores Pakistan’s continued engagement with key partners in Southeast Asia.

A ceremony was also held that included the playing of Indonesia’s national anthem.

President Prabowo will hold high level important talks with both the premier Shehbaz and the president Zardari as well as the Field Marshal during his visit.

According to the Foreign Office, discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, and defense cooperation, as well as enhancing collaboration in health, education, environment, and culture.

Several bilateral memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are likely to be signed during the visit.
