Inflation in Pakistan sees weekly decrease of 0.79 pc

ISLAMABAD: The inflation rate in Pakistan saw a weekly decrease of 0.79 per cent, while the annual rate increased by 28.54 per cent.
According to the weekly report on the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, for the week ending on April 18, prices of 11 essential commodities decreased, 18 remained stable, and 22 items saw a price increase.
During the last week, the price of flour decreased by 8.97 per cent, bananas by 8.67 per cent, electricity for the lowest income group by 7.16% per cent, eggs by 6.67 per cent, LPG by 2.84 per cent, onion by 1.40 per cent, red chili powder by 1.31 per cent, 5 liters of cooking oil by 0.45 per cent, lentils (Masoor) by 0.43 per cent, and 2.5 kg of vegetable ghee by 2.5 per cent.

Conversely, the price of potatoes increased by 17.07 per cent, tomatoes by 12.67 per cent, chicken by 11.60 per cent, printed lawn fabric by 3.55 per cent, shirting fabric by 3.55 per cent, garlic by 2.88 per cent, diesel by 2.87 per cent, beef by 2.56 per cent, georgette fabric by 1.91 per cent, lentils (Mash) by 1.62 per cent, and sugar by 1.10 per cent.
For the group with the lowest monthly income of Rs17,732, the SPI recorded a decrease of 0.71 per cent.
For income groups ranging from Rs17,733 to Rs22,888, from Rs22,889 to Rs29,517, from Rs29,518 to 44,175, and above, the SPI showed respective decreases of 0.83 per cent, 0.90 per cent, 0.79 per cent, and 0.70 per cent.
