ISLAMABAD: An inquiry has been initiated after local police personnel visited the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gauhar in the F-7/2 area of Islamabad yesterday.

The visit, allegedly prompted by a tip from an informer, has sparked controversy and drawn the attention of the judiciary as well as the general public.

In response, Barrister Gauhar filed a complaint with the Supreme Court, expressing his concern over the unwarranted visit by law enforcement officers to his home.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa summoned the Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) and directed an immediate investigation. The Hon’ble Court specifically instructed the ICCPO, Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, to personally address the complaint filed by the PTI chairman regarding the incident.

In a meeting with Chairman PTI, ICCPO Dr Akbar Nasir Khan assured a thorough investigation into the matter. He pledged to take departmental action if any police officer was found to be in violation of protocols during the visit.

To oversee the inquiry, Dr Akbar Nasir Khan appointed the District Police Officer (DPO) City as the inquiry officer. The DPO has been instructed to submit a comprehensive report within three days.

FIVE POLICE OFFICIALS DIMISSED PENDING INQUIRY

In the meantime, five officers who were responsible for the raid, including the Station House Officer (SHO) Margalla, have been suspended pending further investigation. The inquiry aims to ascertain whether there was any breach of legal procedures during the police visit.
