Inquiry launched into blind student’s matric position dispute

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Education Board is under scrutiny after allegations surfaced that a blind student was deprived of the third position in the matriculation arts group results.
The Education Department has initiated an inquiry and formed a committee to investigate the matter.
According to the student’s family, the candidate had secured 1,090 marks and was initially declared third in the arts group. A video statement released by the student’s brother claimed that the board removed his sister from the position, by deducting two marks later.
The brother had made a video explaining the change in results, which was was widely circulated on social media.
In response, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister Faisal Tarakai confirmed that a committee has been formed to address the situation and review the growing number of complaints submitted to the board.
“Hundreds of similar complaints have been received,” Tarakai said, adding that, “If anyone is found responsible, formal legal action will be taken. No injustice will be done to any student, and merit will be ensured.”
The inquiry committee has begun its review. The final findings are expected to determine whether any procedural irregularities occurred in the coming weeks.
