WEB DESK: In Pakistan Decemberistan is a phenonemon which has more to do with the winters than just the winter weddings themselves, and taking it further to January is the much-talked about wedding of the year, of Junaid Safder and Shanzay Rohale Ali. On Friday evening, the couple had their mehendi event which is to be followed by their wedding and Valima.

The son of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Junaid opted for a classic HSY sherwani paired with a shawl, while Shanzay appeared as a Sabyasachi bride in a warm palette of tea pink and green, accented with subtle maroon and purple tones that complemented the ensemble. Staying true to tradition, she chose kundan jewellery, which aligned seamlessly with the understated aesthetic of the event.

The couple’s photoshoot, shared earlier today, carried the same warm and intimate tone.

Alongside the couple, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also stood out, appearing in a Nomi Ansari ensemble dominated by shades of yellow, a clear nod to the Mehndi setting and its celebratory spirit.

Shanzay is the granddaughter of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former MNA Sheikh Roheel Asghar.
The viral wedding card
Earlier this week, the wedding invitation cards of Junaid Safdar, went viral on social media.
Social media posts claim the festivities will begin on January 16, followed by the baraat on January 17 at Lake City, with the Valima reportedly planned for January 18 at Sharif Farms in Jati Umra. However, neither the Sharif family nor Junaid Safdar has officially confirmed the authenticity of the viral cards or the dates mentioned.
Separate invitation cards said to be issued by the bride’s family have also surfaced online. Last month, Sheikh Roheel Asghar publicly confirmed that Junaid Safdar was entering a second marriage, noting close ties between the two families. He said Shanzae shared a long-standing friendship with Junaid Safdar’s sister, Mahnoor Safdar, and described the match as a blessing.
Junaid Safdar was previously married to Ayesha Saif in 2021; the couple separated in October 2023.
