WEB DESK: The Punjab Higher Education Department announced on Wednesday that the intermediate second annual examinations in smog-affected districts will proceed as planned.

The decision comes despite the imposition of a smart lockdown in seven severely affected districts of Punjab, aimed at safeguarding public health.

Starting from November 9 to November 12, a smart lockdown will be enforced in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Narowal districts.

During this period, all public and private offices, schools, banks, and markets, except for essential services, will remain closed.

The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, and Gujranwala have already released the schedule for the HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) second annual examinations.

On November 10, 2023, students are set to appear for exams in subjects such as biology, mathematics, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Punjabi, Pashto, health and physical education, and nursing during both morning and evening sessions.

Similarly, on November 11, 2023, students will take exams in economics, principles of commerce, military science, and various languages.

The notification clarifies that the HSSC second annual exams will proceed according to the original schedule under the jurisdiction of the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, and Gujranwala.
