IoBM wins HEC-sponsored badminton championship

KARACHI: The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) emerged victorious in the HEC Interuniversity Zone-M Badminton Boys Championship 2023-24, which concluded on Wednesday at the IoBM campus.

The three-day event, organized by the Sports and Student Affairs Department at IoBM under the supervision of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), featured 13 teams from various universities competing in singles and doubles categories.

IoBM defeated NED University of Engineering and Technology 2-1 in the doubles final, while DHA Suffa University clinched the singles title, followed by NED as the runner-up. IoBM secured the third position in the singles category.

The closing ceremony was attended by IoBM President Talib Karim as the chief guest and former national badminton champion and IoBM alumna Palwasha Bashir as the guest of honour.

Karim praised the performance of the IoBM team and highlighted the importance of sports in education. He also appreciated HEC’s efforts to promote sports among universities in Pakistan.

Bashir congratulated the winners and encouraged them to pursue their passion for badminton. She expressed hope that IoBM would continue to excel in sports in the future.
