Apple’s foldable iPhone expected post-2027

WEB DESK: Apple is not expected to release a foldable iPhone until at least 2027, but its entry into the market could have a significant impact, according to a recent report by Taiwanese research firm TrendForce.

Currently, foldable phones constitute a small segment of the smartphone market, accounting for just 1.5 per cent.

However, projections indicate that this could rise to 4.8 per cent by 2028. Apple is reportedly “still evaluating component specifications and performance, with stringent requirements for crease and reliability.”

Many current foldable devices suffer from screen creasing, which raises concerns about their long-term durability and the potential for screen damage caused by debris.

While companies like Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, and Nubia have already released popular foldable devices, Apple’s delayed entry might not be a disadvantage.

The tech giant’s substantial market influence and loyal customer base suggest that a foldable iPhone could quickly become popular once it launches. Analysts believe Apple’s introduction of a foldable phone could “significantly shift market dynamics.”

Before introducing a foldable iPhone, Apple is widely expected to debut a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook, marking its initial venture into this product category.
