DELHI: The Delhi Capitals secured a thrilling victory over the Mumbai Indians in the 8th match of the 2026 Indian Premier League, chasing down a 162-run target at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Smeer Rizvi starred for DC with a scintillating 90 off just 51 balls, guiding his team to a narrow but crucial win.

Chasing 162, the Capitals sent KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka to open. Rahul fell cheaply, but Nissanka continued to anchor the innings. The middle order faced early trouble as Nitish Rana was dismissed for a duck, leaving DC in need of a stabilizing innings.

Enter Sameer Rizvi, who took control of the chase. Rizvi’s 90 and Nissanka’s 44 off 30 balls forged a vital 66-run partnership for the third wicket, turning the tide in Delhi’s favor. Contributions from unbeaten David Miller (21 off 18) and not-out Tristan Stubbs (3 off 2) helped the Capitals reach 163, securing victory by 8 runs with extras filling the rest.

Earlier, MI’s innings was led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a blistering 50 off 36 balls. Despite early setbacks with openers Ryan Rickelton (9) and Rohit Sharma (35) falling cheaply, Yadav held the innings together. Naman Dhir’s 28 off 21 provided momentum, while Mitchell Santner (18-unbeaten) and Corbin Bosch (11-unbeaten) remained unbeaten to help MI post 162.
