Iqrar Ul Hassan launches new party

LAHORE: Renowned news anchor Iqrar Ul Hassan has launched a new political party, ‘Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek’ to bring political change in the country.

He made the announcement at a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, where Iqrar Ul Hassan emphasided that he will never hold any political party position or government office.

“I swear by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) that I will not take any party or official post,” he said.

Iqrar Ul Hassan expressed hope that his party will bring new political change in Pakistan and break the patterns of traditional politics, becoming a source of hope for the people.

He said that he will not seek any personal or party-related gain from the movement and announced that the party’s activities will soon begin nationwide.

He described Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek as a democratic platform owned by the people of Pakistan, stressing that, unlike other parties, no single family or individual will have ownership or inherit its leadership.

Earlier, Iqrar Ul Hassan had publicly advised former prime minister Imran Khan and other senior politicians to quit politics, claiming that they no longer represented the Generation Z electorate.

The remarks had drawn severe criticism from PTI supporters, who accused him of being a tout of the establishment.
