TEHRAN: Iran released footage showing the moment several of its advanced missiles were launched during the 22nd wave of “Operation True Promise 4,” a major phase in its ongoing military campaign against Israel and US-linked targets in the region.
According to Iranian media and statements from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the latest wave involved the launch of multiple ballistic and hypersonic missiles, including the Khorramshahr-4 missile, Kheibar missile, and Fattah missile. The launches were part of a coordinated strike targeting strategic sites in Israel, particularly around Tel Aviv and nearby military facilities.
Video footage circulated on social media and broadcast by regional outlets showed missiles rising into the night sky from undisclosed locations, with bright flames and heavy smoke marking the launches. The IRGC said the attack was the latest phase of its retaliation campaign following U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran.
Iranian officials said the heavy Khorramshahr-4 missile — one of the most powerful in Iran’s arsenal — was among the weapons used in the strike. The missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing around 1,000 kilograms and has an estimated range of about 2,000 kilometres, allowing it to reach targets across Israel and parts of the Middle East.
The missile barrage was reportedly aimed at strategic Israeli sites including Ben Gurion Airport and military facilities near Tel Aviv. Iranian sources claimed that some of the missiles penetrated Israel’s multi-layered air-defence systems during earlier waves of the operation.
In addition to heavy ballistic missiles, Iran also showcased its Fattah hypersonic missile, which officials say is designed to travel at extremely high speeds and maneuver during flight to evade interception. The weapon is considered one of Iran’s most advanced missile systems and has been promoted by Tehran as capable of bypassing missile-defence networks.
The Kheibar missile, another weapon used in the operation, is believed to be a precision-guided system capable of carrying large payloads and striking targets with high accuracy.
Iran’s Operation True Promise campaign has unfolded in multiple waves of missile and drone strikes since the outbreak of the conflict, with Tehran describing it as a response to U.S. and Israeli military actions. The operation has involved coordinated attacks against Israeli territory as well as U.S.-linked positions across the region.
Regional tensions remain high as both sides continue to exchange strikes, raising concerns that the conflict could widen further across the Middle East.
