Iran reappoints Mohseni Ejei as judiciary chief amid leadership transition

WEB DESK: Iran’s leadership has formalised a transition within the country’s legal framework. A state decree addressed to Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohseni Ejei confirmed his reappointment to the top judicial post.

The judicial appointment was shared by Mojtaba Khamenei via his official account on X. “With due appreciation of your valuable, sincere efforts, I hereby appoint you as the Head of the Judiciary,” the official statement read.

IRGC Naval Commander appointed

On Sundaym Iranian state television announced the appointment of Ali Ozmaei as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, placing him at the helm of Iran’s naval operations in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf region.

Rear Admiral Ozmaei succeeds Alireza Tangsiri, who was recently killed in an Israeli strike. The high-profile appointment comes as Tehran moves swiftly to restore command continuity within the IRGC Navy a faction central to the Islamic Republic’s maritime strategy and its capacity to project power across one of the world’s most critical energy transit choke points.
