Iran suggests Israeli involvement behind regional attacks, proposes investigative committee

Iran-Israel war

TEHRAN: Iran has offered to form an international investigative committee to examine recent attacks on countries in the Middle East, signaling a push for greater regional accountability, according to Abbas Araghchi, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking to reporters, Araghchi suggested that Israel may be behind attacks on civilian targets in Arab nations, reiterating that Tehran has not targeted any civilian or residential areas in Gulf countries. He also raised concerns over the possible involvement of US-made drones in recent strikes on regional targets.

“Iran welcomes any international strategy or initiative that could lead to a complete end to the war,” Araghchi said, stressing Tehran’s openness to multilateral diplomacy to reduce tensions in the Gulf.

He confirmed that diplomatic consultations with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman will continue, underscoring Iran’s preference for dialogue over escalation. Analysts note that Iran’s proposal for an investigative committee may be aimed at defusing growing regional mistrust while asserting its stance against attacks on civilians.

The announcement comes amid rising concerns over the security of Gulf nations, with multiple countries calling for transparency and accountability regarding cross-border strikes. Tehran’s move could provide a platform for international monitoring, although the proposal’s reception by other regional powers remains uncertain.
